Going to the Book Fair!!!
Well, here I go again. I had typed out a long amount about the book fair in Ithaca, NY that comes up twice a year, once in May and again in October. My husband and I go to it every time it is held and we love it! It is the largest book fair on the East Coast of the U.S. and you can get some great books, cds, dvds, records, puzzles and games and more at discount prices.
Now, these are all donated items for this sale and the donations come from bookstores, libraries and the general public. The hubby and I have donated many things to this place and we also buy much of our books, cds and games from here as well.
It is held for 3 weeks each time in May and October. The first weekend, the hard bound books cost you $4.50 as do most of the cds and dvds. depending upon the item. I've also purchased tarot cards here over the years - cards that normally sell for $30.00 brand new, and get them here for less then $4.50! AND! I will add that they are always in great shape! I won't buy them if they are in sad shape.
Anyway, I walked away with 4 wonderful books and 3 cds. The hubby walked away with much more--to the point that we ended up spending just a wee bit over $100.00. Still a great deal for us--with lots of books to keep us busy and some wonderful music to listen to as well.
My books were:
1. The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying by Sogyal Rinpoche
2. Illuminating the Path to Enlightenment by The Dalai Lama
3. Buddha Is as Buddha Does by Lama Surya Das
4. The Complete Book of Essential Oils & Aromatherapy by Valerie Ann Worwood.
The CDs I picked out were mostly chanting cds and one fluting cd.
Can't beat getting a good book for $4.50. Next weekend the prices will drop and then the 3rd weekend, they drop even more and then the last day they are ridiculously low! All the money raised is split between the libraries in our area to buy new books that are in demand. so, its a good thing. Helps the community throughout from beginning to end!
