Really freaky dream Empty Really freaky dream

Post by Northtigress Tue May 15, 2018 5:07 pm

Usually I don't bother to do the Dream Interpretation thing. Mostly because, when I have a weird dream, it's because I'm, let's be honest, weird. But yesterday I had a dream that was bizarre even for me.

In my dream, I was in a post-apocalypse kind of world, that was suffering from a plague that was kind of like zombi-ism, but not quite. People were calling it the brain parasite. I was travelling with a group of people that I knew from real life, who all happened to be the same ones I used to play role-playing games with. At the beginning of the dream we were all pretty sure that I was already infected, and we were on a quest to find someone to heal/cure me.

We finally found a building that looked like an abandonned school or community league. Very boxy and industrial. There were guards outside, who let us in, but only I was allowed to be "presented". I was taken to meet an old woman who was sitting on a cheap folding chair behind a cheap folding table. I introduced myself and she said "hello, I'll probably have to kill you" -- very calmly, kind of like the Dread Pirate Rogers in Princess Bride. I answered, just as calmly, "if it's necessary." She asked me how I felt, and I told her that it was getting harder to stay focused. She asked me what I needed to focus on. I smiled and said, " not doing Bad Things."

I'm not sure if I finished the dream. I certainly don't remember anything after this.

For what its worth, I use the online dream dictionary here:  http://dreammoods.com

I do add a wee bit of my own thoughts, but primarily will rely on the above.  I love that site and love to try and understand dreams.   So, in this case:

so, according to the site above, being in a post-apocalypse kind of world, it shows that you may be in a situation where you need to be more independent and and resourceful and fend for yourself.  But, it also shows that you will be able to take care of yourself in this situation at hand, but perhaps you are also looking for a bit of guidance and support from people you feel closest to.  I personally think your last line to the old woman in the building shows that you are wanting to do the right thing, so perhaps this situation you are finding yourself in has you in a bit of a tough spot where how ever you decide to act on it, someone else may not agree with or you may be hurting someone and you do not wish to do that.

In a case like this, its very difficult to try and figure out how to react.  From personal experience, I can tell you that you need to make the decision you, yourself can live with and not falter on it.  Not easy of course, as you definitely don't want to hurt anyone, but sometimes we do with the decisions we make and all you can do is remain true to yourself.  I also wonder if this old woman in the building that you sought out may be someone you know and admire--an older family member perhaps or friend?  I think it is okay for you to seek such guidance, just as long as you remember the decision is ultimately yours.

so, a few more things about your dream. With the reference to zombies, it may be that situation includes or will affect people whom you are currently detached from either physically or emotionally.  So, this again makes me feel like its a situation involving friends or family members--perhaps even those friends who were with you in this dream?  I think this situation also could be making you feel dead inside or perhaps because you know you have the "brain infection", you are at least beginning to feel this way--but may not be 100% there yet.

Whatever is brewing up in your circles, it is one that is bothering you, N.T. and you need to remain strong (or you just might find you are getting truly ill!) and act accordingly - being true to yourself first.  Also, the guards outside the building, (which if I have yet to mention, the building can represent your body and self) show that you are being cautious and alert.  So, I think whatever the situation is happening around you, you are being careful in how you approach and respond to it.

I do think that you will find the answer you are seeking to help you in this dilemma. Good luck and I hope that this may have helped you along the way.

Really freaky dream Empty Re: Really freaky dream

Post by Northtigress Wed May 16, 2018 5:11 pm

Okay, here goes. I've been thinking a lot about this, especially the idea that there is a real life problem or decision involved. I can think of three things in my life that I could be subconsciously worried about. Two of them involve not doing a good job at something. But only one actually involves doing something bad.

And the answer is -- Gambling. And not just any gambling, but the mindless, button-pushing Pavlov's Dog of the betting world -- Slot Machines. You see, I work at a casino. Not a very big casino, but still, one filled with plenty of brightly coloured, beeping, flashing temptation.

I started out just putting a bit of my tip money in, a few times a month, just to see what would happen. But now I am taking money out of the bank specifically for betting. Worse, I've been going to casinos other than the one I work at. And yes, it's been getting harder not to "do the bad thing" and put in twenty bucks "just in case".

Argh. This is definitely getting more difficult. I have started saving my tips for an Anime Convention in August. But I can already hear the argument in my head "but if I win, I can add more to my money stash".

Okay, I gave myself a chance. I had $40 in tips saved. I put $10 in a machine, cashed out with $15. Then I put $10 in amother machine and lost it. Then I put $10 in another machine and lost it.

So instead of having $45 I have $25.

No more Bad Things.

ha definitely no more bad things Northtigress, those things are set up for you to lose majority of the time. I know people who spend so much on them only to win half of their earnings back , they are happy with that, They make no sense to me, Id rather it all in my pocket LOL!!
I guess its like anything you want to stop doing. Like smoking for me, everytime i felt like one, i told myself i dont smoke, i gave up cold turkey after smoking for over 20 years.
where there is a will there is a way.

I will
To will
Thy will.

Good luck gorgeous, I hope you can stop, We are saving at the moment for comicon in september its after the Pride march for the LGBT community, which we will be going to also, as my daughter identifies, it will be our first ever, for both. We are uber excited about it, being in a big city now we can go to these type of things.

as you say in your dream , whatever is necessary when the old wise woman says i may have to kill you... Dying in dreams, is like the death card, it is a part of yourself that no longer serves you, You can see it is not serving you in a positive way, and this part of you needs to be eliminated, and you are willing to do whatever is necessary to get rid of it. and being in the head ( brain parasite) it is mind over matter as you already know. You can do this!! best of Luck xx

I know this sounds corny, but have you tried the rubber band around your wrist? you snap it whenever your train of thought leads you to do what you are trying to stop.
It works for some, maybe it might work for you?
You are an intelligent woman, i am sure you will find a way, somehow xx

I've been doing okay so far with having a written set of rules. I have been limiting myself to 2-3 times a month, at a casino that is not the one where I work.

I do find myself hoarding my tips for my savings, instead of my previous attitude of "it's bonus money, let's put five bucks in a machine".

Good for you, DB and way to go!!! cheers

I, myself, am 30 yrs smoke free now. Though I wasn't much of a smoker really because I couldn't afford it. Back then cigarettes were only about $1.00 a pack! Today my friend spends $7.00 a pack when she goes to the Indian reservation for them! (cheaper there). I just can't imagine spending that much! Laughing I am also like you. I'd rather have my monies in my pocket!!
